Rich Vanilla Sauce 5 Delicious Ways to Use
What Ingredients Are Needed for Rich Vanilla Sauce? Good on any pudding or souffle.

INGREDIENTS :- Serves
- Makes 11/2 cups
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon rum (optional)
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon softened butter
- 11/4 cups whole milk, heated (optional)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Step 1 Beat the egg yolks in a heavy saucepan until thick and sticky (about 1 minute).
Step 2 Gradually stir in the sugar, then beat in the hot milk by droplets.
Step 3 Stir over moderately low heat with a wooden spoon until the sauce thickens enough to coat the spoon.
Step 4 Do not let the sauce approach a simmer or the egg yolks will curdle.
Step 5 Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla, then the rum and butter, if desired. Serve warm or cool.
Note: I do not suggest the “optional rum and butter” if the sauce is to be served with a liqueur-flavored soufflé.
