How to Use the High School GPA Calculator

Understanding your GPA is the first step toward a successful college application. This tool automates the math so you can focus on your studies.

Step-by-Step Tutorial

  1. Select Your Language: Use the dropdown at the top to switch between English, Spanish, or French.
  2. Add Your Classes: Enter your course name and select the “Level” (Regular, Honors, or AP/IB).
  3. Input Your Grades: Select the letter grade you earned for each class.
  4. Instant Calculation: Click “Calculate Scores” to see your dual GPA results.

The Basic Formula

Unlike college GPA, which is credit-weighted, High School GPA is typically calculated by averaging the point values of all classes:

  • Unweighted: Average of all standard point values (A=4, B=3, etc.).
  • Weighted: Unweighted points+Weighting Boost (Honors/AP).

Record, Save, and Update

  • Record: Use the calculator at the end of every grading period to see your progress.
  • Save: Click the PDF button to create a professional summary of your scores for your records or to share with tutors.
  • Update: If you are choosing next year’s classes, use the calculator to see how taking an AP course vs. a Regular course will impact your total Weighted GPA.
