Daily Important Conversation: Checking in on Someone
If someone looks tired or unwell in the village, you might ask:
- You: O sa vaka-cava tiko? (How are you feeling?)
- Friend: Au sa malumalumu tiko. (I am feeling weak/tired.)
- You: E mosi na ulumu? (Does your head hurt?)
- Friend: Sega, e mosi na ketequ. (No, my stomach hurts.)
- You: Lako mada i vale me moce. (Go to the house and sleep.)
Teacher’s Note: Notice how we add “-qu” to the end of body parts to mean “my” (e.g., Uluqu = my head, Ligamu = your hand).
