Fry Bread Recipe Easy

Fry Bread Recipe without Yeast– This is one of my favorite things to eat, especially when there is home­made butter and blackberry jam. To go with It is related to skillet bread that I remember as a kid in South Dakota, but this version can be cooked in a deep fryer or an electric skillet.

Fry Bread Recipe

INGREDIENTS :- Serves Makes 10 to 12 rounds

  • 30 cups unbleached All-purpose flour,
  • Divided 1/2 Clip yellow cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Heat the oil to 350°

Step 1 Mix 2 1/2 cups of the flour, the cornmeal, baking powder, sugar, and salt together.

Step 2 Work in the lard, using your fingertips.

Step 3 Mix thoroughly to the consistency of gravel.

Step 4 Add the buttermilk and make thick dough.

Step 5 Place on a floured board and incorporate the remaining flour, about 1/2 cup at a time, and knead well.

Step 6 Place in an oiled bowl and allow to rest for 30 minutes.

Step 7 Break off small handfuls.

Step 8 Oil your hands before working with the dough.

Step 9 Flatten and stretch the dough with your fingers, then pierce the center with a sharp knife.

Step 10 Drop in deep fat to cook.

Step 11 Allow about 1 minute per side. Turn only once, and then remove to drain on paper towels.

Step 12 Serve hot.

Note: Can be made ahead and kept warm in the oven until serving time.

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lard
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • Oil for deep frying

Soak for 20 minutes, and then pour. The remaining 4 tablespoons of butter over the top of the dough. Continue to bake for another 40 minutes.

Remove from the oven to a wire rack to cool.
